Some nice soldiers will arrive with the king but that's it and eventually they'll need to be replaced anyway. The only content you miss out on is the chance to get nobles and gradually move towards becoming a mountain home, but there is literally no in game benefit to do this. One thing you didn't touch on is OP's idea that you will miss out on content, so to answer, you really won't. I guess the second part is "get a better CPU" since my computer seems to do just fine at pop: 70 for in game decades. Especially with larger objects, like troll corpses. That can be used to allow you to put trash in the kill-zone without dwarves ever stepping foot there.ĮDIT: The over-the-edge dumping mechanic can also be used to throw trash into magma for disposal. Putting your atomsmasher at the bottom of a pit is a good bet, since if a dump zone includes a cliff, dwarves will preferentially throw trash off of it, rather than leaving it on the ground at their feet. You build the raising bridge directly onto the floor, so that trash is squeezed out of existence. Well, if your objective is to annihilate garbage, you don't dig out the floor below it. I was considering just capping my dorf population at around 150 so that it's not an unreasonable amount of dwarves to manage but i would really hate to take away from the content of the game. Once I got to about 107 dwarves and various animals (a bunch) and tons of enemies on map my FPS fell to ~97(29/30) so I went in and played with CPU affinity and set all my other processes to CPU 1 & 2 and set dwarf fort to CPU 3, 4, 5, and 6 and got my fps up to 125-130(30) just hoping to avoid fps death on the long haul.
